With our love for sound, music, history and handicraft, we build and restore organs all over the world. We do so for churches, concert halls, conservatories and private individuals.
With our magnificent team, we have every type of skill and knowledge that may be needed under one roof. Our company has its own carpentry workshop, design office, pipe workshop and metal foundry, where we ourselves make all the individual parts needed for all our projects. To optimize your organ’s sound, we employ our own voicers, all of whom are professional organists.
The procedure of making an organ
From the precise and complex work of manufacturing an organ pipe that yields a beautiful tone through to the very delicate labour of voicing so that the beautiful sounds blend together and come fully to life. The making of an organ requires a solid musical and technical plan and great skill on the part of several artisans. Also required, in cases of reconstruction and restoration, is close attention to historical details.
“Ever since 1903 we’ve been trying to find out why the sound of historic organs touches us so deeply and how we can produce such a sound ourselves.”
‘I am overjoyed at the results of Flentrop Orgelbouw’s expert craftsmanship and their success in turning our vision for this new instrument into a reality. The College’s ongoing mission is to enhance our students’ experience and I know every musician here will enjoy and learn from our new organ.’
